Weed-friendly Episode Guide

There is one specific episode of Family Guy that literally features cannabis in the title and as the basis of events that unfold throughout the show. It is called “420” and the song created for this show is called “Bag O’ Weed.” While the episode is not exactly politically correct due to the Helen Keller, Michael Jackson, and other suggestive jokes but then again the whole show is NSFW.

420- Family Guy Season 7, Episode 12

Here’s a basic run-through of the plot of the 420 special episode:

Peter, Brian, Joe, and Cleveland are upset when Quagmire spends too much time with his new cat James. While Quagmire is away, the guys plan to shave James as a joke, but plans change when Peter accidentally kills the cat. Peter and Brian attempt to hide its body so they can tell Quagmire it ran away. The cops pull them over and don’t care about the cat murder but arrest Brian for possessing weed. Brian is bailed out of jail by his family and put on probation.

His probation officer, Joe, arrives for a urine sample just after Brian starts smoking again. Brian attempts to use Stewie’s urine and is caught by Lois, who gets upset with him. Instead of quitting, Brian decides him and Stewie will start a campaign to legalize marijuana in Quahog. They perform an enthusiastic musical number called Bag O’ Weed, and soon after, the entire town rallies behind them.

Mayor West passes a law to legalize weed, and everyone starts partaking. Brian points out that the town has had a decrease in crime and an increase in productivity, and Doctor Who ratings are doing well. Meanwhile, Lois’ father and the timber industry are hurting now that hemp is predominately used in the town.

He bribes Peter to help him produce anti-marijuana campaign videos. Carter decides to try and bribe Brian to join his cause by publishing his novel, Faster Than the Speed of Love, but Brian resists. Stewie knows the book sucks and suggests he at least sing a song about the dangers of weed.

Brian reluctantly complies, and cannabis is again prohibited. Brian’s novel is shipped out but does not sell a single copy. Brian laments that he sacrificed everything for nothing, but Lois states that banning pot was worth it all.

The episode ends with Quagmire at Peter’s door, saying he has raised the reward for finding the missing cat. Peter nonchalantly takes the prize, admits he killed James and quickly slams the door.

Bag of Weed Lyrics

Here’s the gist of the lyrics to the bag o’ weed song by Stewie, Brian, and the gang:

‘Now, everybody gather round and listen if you would
When I tell you every person needs a way of feeling good
Every kitty needs a ball of string and every dog a stick
But all you need is a bag of weed to really get a kick!

A bag o’ weed, a bag o’ weed
Oh, everything is better with a bag o’ weed
It’s the only help that you’ll ever need
Because everything is better with a bag o’ weed!

But all we need is a bag o’ weed to keep us worry-free
One, two, three, ho!

A bag o’ weed, a bag o’ weed
Oh, everything is better with a bag o’ weed
No, you don’t need meth, and you don’t need speed
Because everything is better with a bag o’ weed

A bag o’ weed, a bag o’ weed
Oh, everything is better with a bag o’ weed
You can try and fight, but we’re all agreed
Because everything is better with a bag o’ weed

A bag o’ weed, a bag o’ weed
Oh, everything is better with a bag o’ weed
You’re a happy guy when you plant the seed
Because everything is better with a bag of weed!
Oh, everything is better with a bag of weed!”

What are the Munchies?

Urban Dictionary describes the munchies as “the compelling and intense feeling of hunger after smoking weed.” While accurate, there is an even more scientific explanation for this feeling. Read on to learn more about what causes a munchie’s hit and the best snack to relieve those intense cravings.

THC is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that makes you high and can affect your body in many ways. Ginger Hultin, RD, is the spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the owner of Champagne Nutrition.

She states that munchies happen when THC stimulates your body’s endocannabinoid system in the brain to promote an urge to eat. She goes on to say that there is evidence that weed encourages the production of a hunger hormone called ghrelin.
