Midori Products and Lake & Leaf were started when two friends in the Chicago finance industry thought they would ‘help raise capital’ for the budding marijuana industry in their home state of Michigan. In a turn of events, they realized quickly that cubicles and neck ties were not for them. The two set out to find the right location to launch their own cannabis company. After scouting a few communities in the state, the pair settled on Benzonia, MI: A small town with a firm understanding of the opportunity our generation has been presented with.
