Our Story
There are seven acres of land in Dacusville, South Carolina we call Rambling Rosa Farm. The land is Cherokee. It was a horse farm before it became Rambling Rosa Farm. With the land we are growing food with organic methods, hosting educational experiences and caring for friendly farm animals.
The way we grow our vegetable and herb crops is guided by health principles. This means we respect and try to enhance, not interfere, with natural processes in the soil. It means no chemical sprays or chemical fertilizers (it also means we’ll be applying for organic certification). Simply put, wellbeing matters to us.
While the crops are growing, we also feed and look after friendly farm animals that have arrived here through adoptions from the humane society and other local farms. We raise bees for honey, make pickles, other preserves and some herbal products.
We offer these farm goods, plus our fresh produce, to CSA members, a local store and several restaurants. We attend local farmers’ markets and we usually post about it on Instagram @ramblingrosafarm
These are some of the people central to the farm: Brittany and Mike Arsiniega met at Machu Picchu in Peru in 2012. After adventuring on the west coast, they moved to South Carolina in 2017. They bought the farm in 2020. They are committed to working for social justice in the Upstate, which is where Mike grew up.
Their two sons, Gabriel and Lucas, help with the farm work from feeding the animals to sampling honey from the hives. Brittany’s and Mike’s parents support the farm by offering landscaping work, salsa recipes, machinery diagnostics and more.
Emily Perkins came onto the farm crew in May 2021. Together with the Arsiniegas, she is working to bring the farm into a meaningful future.
We also host volunteers and interns and get help from local professionals. We lean on farm-supporting consultants like the staff at the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, our local farm extension agent and countless peers in the farming field.
Those of us here have enjoyed making connections within the community around us and we look forward to digging deeply and connecting heartily in the years to come. We hope you’ll come to the farm and find connections here too. We grow to gather.
